India is a land of incredible diversity and rich cultural heritage. From the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas to the sun-drenched beaches of Goa and Kerala, from the ancient temples and monuments of Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu to the lush forests of the North-East, India offers a wide variety of experiences to travellers. India has a rich history spanning thousands of years and is home to some of the world's most famous historical and cultural monuments. The Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, the Red Fort, the Qutub Minar, the temples of Khajuraho and Hampi, and the ghats of Varanasi are just a few of the many iconic attractions. India is also a leading destination for spiritual tourism, wellness tourism and adventure tourism. Tourism is an important contributor to the Indian economy. It generates foreign exchange earnings, creates employment and promotes cultural exchange. The Incredible India campaign has been successful in promoting India as a tourist destination internationally. The Government has been taking steps to improve infrastructure and services for tourists, including better airports, hotels and road connectivity. E-visa facilities have been extended to citizens of many countries, making it easier to visit India. However, there is still much that needs to be done to improve the quality of the tourist experience. Cleanliness, safety, better signage and improved facilities at tourist sites are areas that need attention. Responsible and sustainable tourism practices must be promoted to protect the environment and cultural heritage.
