Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. It is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits and personal development. Educational methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators but learners may also educate themselves. Education can take place in formal or informal settings. Formal education is typically divided into stages such as preschool, primary school, secondary school, and then college, university or apprenticeship. A right to education has been recognised by some governments and the United Nations. In most regions, education is compulsory up to a certain age. Education helps people learn to read and write. It helps people get better jobs and earn more money. Education teaches people how to be good citizens and to participate in democracy. It helps people understand the world around them and make informed decisions. Quality education is a key driver of economic growth and social development. Countries that invest in education tend to have higher productivity, better health outcomes and lower levels of poverty. In India, the Right to Education Act guarantees free and compulsory education to all children between the ages of 6 and 14 years. The National Education Policy 2020 aims to transform the education system and make it more holistic, flexible and multidisciplinary. The policy envisions an India centred education system that contributes directly to transforming our nation sustainably into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society.
