Health is wealth. A healthy person is able to work efficiently and enjoy life to the fullest. Good health is not just the absence of disease; it is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. To maintain good health, one needs to follow a balanced diet, exercise regularly, get adequate sleep and avoid harmful habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. A balanced diet includes adequate amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Fruits and vegetables are essential sources of vitamins and minerals. Whole grains provide energy and dietary fibre. Pulses and legumes are good sources of protein. Milk and dairy products provide calcium for strong bones and teeth. Junk food and processed food should be consumed in moderation as they are high in salt, sugar and unhealthy fats. Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining good health. Exercise helps to control body weight, strengthen muscles and bones, improve cardiovascular health and boost mental health. Even a 30-minute walk every day can make a significant difference to one's health. Yoga and meditation are excellent practices that improve both physical and mental health. Adequate sleep is also crucial for good health. Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. Sleep deprivation can lead to a range of health problems including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and depression. Regular health check-ups help to detect diseases early and prevent complications.
